Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef or plant-based crumbles
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 green peppers, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 hamburger buns
Preparation
- In a large saute pan, over medium-high heat, crumble the beef. Add onion, green pepper and garlic and stir until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened, about 8 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, maple syrup, vinegar, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Cook, uncovered, for about 5 minutes, until thickened. Serve on toasted buns.
